It's "Phil's [original] Answer (aka Betty White)," as sung by David and Amy Rutberg in the October 1, 2007, production of the B*tch.

The 7-Year B*tch, featuring Like You Like It songs "It Could Totally Happen," "So Close So Far Away" and "I Wanna Know Why," as well as cut songs "Turn It Off" and "Phil's [original] Answer (aka Betty White)", fills the house at The Beechman Theater! We even had 30 people on the waiting list. Not bad for only ten days of marketing. So, hopefully we will do the show again in the spring.

If you want to be part of the mailing list, email info@likeyoulikeit.com. Many, many thanks to our cast (and frequent Like You Like It-ers) Becca Ayers, James Donegan, David Perlman, Amy Rutberg, Joanna Young and music director/bass singer/therapist Brian Cimmet, as well as to fabulous director Carlos Armesto and our press guru Scott Denny, who got us a great mention on broadwayworld.com, as well as coverage on a lot of other theatre-oriented sites.

October 25, 2007

We made a decision: The B*tch is back! We only have ten days to fill the house, but we're remounting The 7-Year B*tch at THE BEECHMAN THEATER, 407 West 42nd Street.

We'll be "unplugged," with only piano and drums, and James Donegan is back in the cast, and - get this - we'll be right across the street from The Beckett Theatre, where Like You Like It played in the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004! It's taken three years to cross one street. For reservations, call 212.695.6909. It's a $10 cover/$15 food & drink minimum (and it's great food).

October 22, 2007

This is getting ridiculous and wonderful all at the same time. The 7-Year B*tch, Dan and Sammy's concert/revue/almost-book-musical about Like You Like It's long journey, was just named an OUTSTANDING NEW MUSICAL in the Talking Broadway Summer Theatre Festival Citations. Many, many thanks to Peter Filichia, who chose us among all the other NYMF, Fringe and other festival shows! We are proud to share the award with Unlock'd (Sammy is so happy to have introduced writer Sam Carner to director Igor Goldin last year!) and Such Good Friends (by friend Noel Katz).

October 5, 2007

So, it's 1:10am, Dan, Sammy and Scott Denny are at Yoshinoya Beef Bowl on 42nd Street, surfing the net on Scott's iPhone for the 1:00am posting of Peter Filichia's theatermania.com column about The 7-Year B*tch. He wrote about us in a column way back after the first reading of Like You Like It, and he has been a tremendous source of support.

Peter emailed us the other day to let us know he was writing about it in his Friday column, but little did we know what a rave it would be! He calls it "The Seven-Year Hit!" and goes on to compare us to [title of show]. Read his amazing review. We DEFINTIELY want to do the show again now!

October 1, 2007

WOW! The 7-Year B*tch went so well! Many thanks to Kris Stewart for his lovely pre-curtain speech.

As for the Like You Like It connection, one of the cut songs (Phil's love song to Betty White) rocked the house. Kudos to castmembers Becca Ayers (Les Miserables, Avenue Q), Nick Dothée (Broadway Idol), David Perlman (Calvin Berger), Amy Rutberg (Our Leading Lady) and Joanna Young (Drowsy Chaperone) as well as bass player Arnold Gottlieb and guitarist Andrew Ingkavet. Thanks and praise to stage manager Amy Sulds, press rep Scott Denny, and as always to music director Brian Cimmet and director Carlos Armesto.

The theatre was packed, we had a great response - and just might do it again. Stay tuned!

September 25, 2007

Congratulations to James Donegan, one of the The 7-Year B*tch castmembers (he sings "It Could Totally Happen" from Like You Like It in the B*tch). He's starring in Forbidden Broadway till November 4! He'll be replaced in The 7-Year B*tch by Nick Dothée.
